I cracked the Twitter/X Algorithm for impression

If you’re a small creator struggling to get noticed on X, you’re not alone. The journey can seem a bit hectic, but with the right strategy, it’s possible to gain significant traction in a short period. Many of you have asked me (X) how I managed to achieve 5 million impressions in just one week. In this article, I’ll break down the basics and share the exact steps I took. If you have fewer than 100 or 1,000 followers (or consider yourself a small creator), this guide is for you.

Does X Premium help you gain impressions?

Not directly. However, if you’re looking to grow quickly on X, having a Premium subscription can offer some advantages.

So, how can you do it?

Here’s the approach I used: Follow 6–7 big creators (ideally those with 1M+ followers) and turn on notifications for their posts. The key is to reply to their posts within 30 minutes with something relevant.

But what should you avoid? Don’t reply with emojis, generic phrases like “Good morning,” “I agree,” or anything too common. Instead, try replying with humor — it’s one of the best ways to engage with others. X is all about engagement, and humor often sparks conversation.

With notifications on for 6 creators, and assuming each posts around 30 pieces of content per day, you have about 180 chances daily to engage.

Chances???

Yes, I’ve been experimenting for the past 2–3 weeks. Many of my humorous replies didn’t gain much traction or impressions. For instance, if I replied to 20 posts each day this week, that’s 140 replies in total. However, only three of my replies went viral, which helped me reach the 5M impressions mark within a week. So, my probability of success was 3/140, or roughly 0.0214.

It might seem tough when you look at the numbers, but the effort is worth it.

Now, you might be wondering, “Which big creators should I follow?”

Here’s my suggestion:

a. Follow local creators from your country, as X tends to favor local engagement.

b. The creators I followed and turned on notifications for:

  • Non Aesthetic Things
  • World of Statistics
  • Massimo (This MF blocked me, not sure why, but it’s all good!)
  • You can also follow me. I’ll follow back

c. Additionally, I follow a lot of AI and tech company accounts, along with CEOs, because these fields genuinely interest me. You can choose based on your interests.

Now you know how I hit 5M impressions in a week.

Notice I didn’t mention anything about followers. That’s because I’m new to posting on X and still have a smaller following. I’m also experimenting with gaining followers. So, make sure to follow me, and if you’re genuine, I’ll follow you back!
